7Then Saul7586 said559 unto his servants5650 that stood5324 about him, Hear now8085, ye Benjamites1145; will the son1121 of Jesse3448 give5414 every one of you fields7704 and vineyards3754, and make7760 you all captains8269 of thousands505, and captains8269 of hundreds3967;
8That all of you have conspired7194 against me, and there is none that sheweth1540 241 me that my son1121 hath made a league3772 with the son1121 of Jesse3448, and there is none of you that is sorry2470 for me, or sheweth1540 241 unto me that my son1121 hath stirred up6965 my servant5650 against me, to lie in wait693, as at this day3117?
9Then answered6030 Doeg1673 the Edomite130, which was set5324 over the servants5650 of Saul7586, and said559, I saw7200 the son1121 of Jesse3448 coming935 to Nob5011, to Ahimelech288 the son1121 of Ahitub285.
10And he enquired7592 of the LORD3068 for him, and gave5414 him victuals6720, and gave5414 him the sword2719 of Goliath1555 the Philistine6430.
11Then the king4428 sent7971 to call7121 Ahimelech288 the priest3548, the son1121 of Ahitub285, and all his father's1 house1004, the priests3548 that were in Nob5011: and they came935 all of them to the king4428.
12And Saul7586 said559, Hear8085 now, thou son1121 of Ahitub285. And he answered559, Here I am, my lord113.
13And Saul7586 said559 unto him, Why have ye conspired7194 against me, thou and the son1121 of Jesse3448, in that thou hast given5414 him bread3899, and a sword2719, and hast enquired7592 of God430 for him, that he should rise6965 against me, to lie in wait693, as at this day3117?
14Then Ahimelech288 answered6030 the king4428, and said559, And who is so faithful539 among all thy servants5650 as David1732, which is the king's4428 son in law2860, and goeth5493 at thy bidding4928, and is honourable3513 in thine house1004?
15Did I then3117 begin2490 to enquire7592 of God430 for him? be it far from me2486: let not the king4428 impute7760 any thing1697 unto his servant5650, nor to all the house1004 of my father1: for thy servant5650 knew3045 nothing1697 of all this, less6996 or more1419.
16And the king4428 said559, Thou shalt surely4191 die4191, Ahimelech288, thou, and all thy father's1 house1004.
17And the king4428 said559 unto the footmen7323 that stood5324 about him, Turn5437, and slay4191 the priests3548 of the LORD3068; because their hand3027 also is with David1732, and because they knew3045 when he fled1272, and did not shew1540 241 it to me. But the servants5650 of the king4428 would14 not put forth7971 their hand3027 to fall6293 upon the priests3548 of the LORD3068.
18And the king4428 said559 to Doeg1673, Turn5437 thou, and fall6293 upon the priests3548. And Doeg1673 the Edomite130 turned5437, and he fell6293 upon the priests3548, and slew4191 on that day3117 fourscore8084 and five2568 persons376 that did wear5375 a linen906 ephod646.
19And Nob5011, the city5892 of the priests3548, smote5221 he with the edge6310 of the sword2719, both men376 and women802, children5768 and sucklings3243, and oxen7794, and asses2543, and sheep7716, with the edge6310 of the sword2719.
20And one259 of the sons1121 of Ahimelech288 the son1121 of Ahitub285, named8034 Abiathar54, escaped4422, and fled1272 after310 David1732.
21And Abiathar54 shewed5046 David1732 that Saul7586 had slain2026 the LORD'S3068 priests3548.
22And David1732 said559 unto Abiathar54, I knew3045 it that day3117, when Doeg1673 the Edomite130 was there, that he would surely5046 tell5046 Saul7586: I have occasioned5437 the death of all the persons5315 of thy father's1 house1004.
23Abide3427 thou with me, fear3372 not: for he that seeketh1245 my life5315 seeketh1245 thy life5315: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard4931.
