3And Abijah29 set631 the battle4421 in array631 with an army2428 of valiant men1368 of war4421, even four702 hundred3967 thousand505 chosen977 men376: Jeroboam3379 also set the battle4421 in array6186 against him with eight8083 hundred3967 thousand505 chosen977 men376, being mighty men1368 of valour2428.
4And Abijah29 stood up6965 upon mount2022 Zemaraim6787, which is in mount2022 Ephraim669, and said559, Hear8085 me, thou Jeroboam3379, and all Israel3478;
5Ought ye not to know3045 that the LORD3068 God430 of Israel3478 gave5414 the kingdom4467 over Israel3478 to David1732 for ever5769, even to him and to his sons1121 by a covenant1285 of salt4417?
6Yet Jeroboam3379 the son1121 of Nebat5028, the servant5650 of Solomon8010 the son1121 of David1732, is risen up6965, and hath rebelled4775 against his lord113.

13But Jeroboam3379 caused an ambushment3993 to come935 about5437 behind310 them: so they were before6440 Judah3063, and the ambushment3993 was behind310 them.
14And when Judah3063 looked back6437, behold, the battle4421 was before6440 and behind268: and they cried6817 unto the LORD3068, and the priests3548 sounded2690 2690 with the trumpets2689.
15Then the men376 of Judah3063 gave a shout7321: and as the men376 of Judah3063 shouted7321, it came to pass, that God430 smote5062 Jeroboam3379 and all Israel3478 before6440 Abijah29 and Judah3063.
16And the children1121 of Israel3478 fled5127 before6440 Judah3063: and God430 delivered5414 them into their hand3027.
17And Abijah29 and his people5971 slew5221 them with a great7227 slaughter4347: so there fell down5307 slain2491 of Israel3478 five2568 hundred3967 thousand505 chosen977 men376.
18Thus the children1121 of Israel3478 were brought3665 under at that time6256, and the children1121 of Judah3063 prevailed553, because they relied8172 upon the LORD3068 God430 of their fathers1.
19And Abijah29 pursued7291 after310 Jeroboam3379, and took3920 cities5892 from him, Bethel1008 with the towns1323 thereof, and Jeshanah3466 with the towns1323 thereof, and Ephrain6085 with the towns1323 thereof.
20Neither did Jeroboam3379 recover6113 strength3581 again in the days3117 of Abijah29: and the LORD3068 struck5062 him, and he died4191.
21But Abijah29 waxed mighty2388, and married5375 fourteen702 6240 wives802, and begat3205 twenty6242 and two8147 sons1121, and sixteen8337 6240 daughters1323.
