2And he had brethren251 the sons1121 of Jehoshaphat3092, Azariah5838, and Jehiel3171, and Zechariah2148, and Azariah5838, and Michael4317, and Shephatiah8203: all these were the sons1121 of Jehoshaphat3092 king4428 of Israel3478.
3And their father1 gave5414 them great7227 gifts4979 of silver3701, and of gold2091, and of precious things4030, with fenced4694 cities5892 in Judah3063: but the kingdom4467 gave5414 he to Jehoram3088; because he was the firstborn1060.
4Now when Jehoram3088 was risen up6965 to the kingdom4467 of his father1, he strengthened2388 himself, and slew2026 all his brethren251 with the sword2719, and divers also of the princes8269 of Israel3478.
5Jehoram3088 was thirty7970 and two8147 years8141 old1121 when he began to reign4427, and he reigned4427 eight8083 years8141 in Jerusalem3389.
6And he walked3212 in the way1870 of the kings4428 of Israel3478, like as did6213 the house1004 of Ahab256: for he had the daughter1323 of Ahab256 to wife802: and he wrought6213 that which was evil7451 in the eyes5869 of the LORD3068.
7Howbeit the LORD3068 would14 not destroy7843 the house1004 of David1732, because of the covenant1285 that he had made3772 with David1732, and as he promised559 to give5414 a light5216 to him and to his sons1121 for ever3117.
8In his days3117 the Edomites123 revolted6586 from under the dominion3027 of Judah3063, and made4427 themselves a king4428.
9Then Jehoram3088 went forth5674 with his princes8269, and all his chariots7393 with him: and he rose up6965 by night3915, and smote5221 the Edomites123 which compassed him in5437, and the captains8269 of the chariots7393.
10So the Edomites123 revolted6586 from under the hand3027 of Judah3063 unto this day3117. The same time6256 also did Libnah3841 revolt6586 from under his hand3027; because he had forsaken5800 the LORD3068 God430 of his fathers1.
11Moreover he made6213 high places1116 in the mountains2022 of Judah3063, and caused the inhabitants3427 of Jerusalem3389 to commit fornication2181, and compelled5080 Judah3063 thereto.
12And there came935 a writing4385 to him from Elijah452 the prophet5030, saying559, Thus saith559 the LORD3068 God430 of David1732 thy father1, Because thou hast not walked1980 in the ways1870 of Jehoshaphat3092 thy father1, nor in the ways1870 of Asa609 king4428 of Judah3063,
13But hast walked3212 in the way1870 of the kings4428 of Israel3478, and hast made Judah3063 and the inhabitants3427 of Jerusalem3389 to go a whoring2181, like to the whoredoms2181 of the house1004 of Ahab256, and also hast slain2026 thy brethren251 of thy father's1 house1004, which were better2896 than thyself:
14Behold, with a great1419 plague4046 will the LORD3068 smite5062 thy people5971, and thy children1121, and thy wives802, and all thy goods7399:
15And thou shalt have great7227 sickness2483 by disease4245 of thy bowels4578, until thy bowels4578 fall out3318 by reason of the sickness2483 day3117 by day3117.
16Moreover the LORD3068 stirred up5782 against Jehoram3088 the spirit7307 of the Philistines6430, and of the Arabians6163, that were near5921 3027 the Ethiopians3569:
17And they came up5927 into Judah3063, and brake1234 into it, and carried away7617 all the substance7399 that was found4672 in the king's4428 house1004, and his sons1121 also, and his wives802; so that there was never a son1121 left7604 him, save Jehoahaz3059, the youngest6996 of his sons1121.
18And after310 all this the LORD3068 smote5062 him in his bowels4578 with an incurable369 4832 disease2483.
19And it came to pass, that in process of time3117, after3318 6256 the end7093 of two8147 years3117, his bowels4578 fell out3318 by reason5973 of his sickness2483: so he died4191 of sore7451 diseases8463. And his people5971 made6213 no burning8316 for him, like the burning8316 of his fathers1.
20Thirty7970 and two8147 years old1121 was he when he began to reign4427, and he reigned4427 in Jerusalem3389 eight8083 years8141, and departed3212 without being desired2532. Howbeit they buried6912 him in the city5892 of David1732, but not in the sepulchres6913 of the kings4428.
