1Then said559 Solomon8010, The LORD3068 hath said559 that he would dwell7931 in the thick darkness6205.
2But I have built1129 an house1004 of habitation2073 for thee, and a place4349 for thy dwelling3427 for ever5769.
3And the king4428 turned5437 his face6440, and blessed1288 the whole congregation6951 of Israel3478: and all the congregation6951 of Israel3478 stood5975.
4And he said559, Blessed1288 be the LORD3068 God430 of Israel3478, who hath with his hands3027 fulfilled4390 that which he spake1696 with his mouth6310 to my father1 David1732, saying559,
5Since the day3117 that I brought forth3318 my people5971 out of the land776 of Egypt4714 I chose977 no city5892 among all the tribes7626 of Israel3478 to build1129 an house1004 in, that my name8034 might be there; neither chose977 I any man376 to be a ruler5057 over my people5971 Israel3478:
6But I have chosen977 Jerusalem3389, that my name8034 might be there; and have chosen977 David1732 to be over my people5971 Israel3478.
7Now it was in the heart3824 of David1732 my father1 to build1129 an house1004 for the name8034 of the LORD3068 God430 of Israel3478.
8But the LORD3068 said559 to David1732 my father1, Forasmuch as it was in thine heart3824 to build1129 an house1004 for my name8034, thou didst well2895 in that it was in thine heart3824:
9Notwithstanding7535 thou shalt not build1129 the house1004; but thy son1121 which shall come forth3318 out of thy loins2504, he shall build1129 the house1004 for my name8034.
10The LORD3068 therefore hath performed6965 his word1697 that he hath spoken1696: for I am risen up6965 in the room of David1732 my father1, and am set3427 on the throne3678 of Israel3478, as the LORD3068 promised1696, and have built1129 the house1004 for the name8034 of the LORD3068 God430 of Israel3478.
11And in it8033 have I put7760 the ark727, wherein is the covenant1285 of the LORD3068, that he made3772 with the children1121 of Israel3478.
12And he stood5975 before6440 the altar4196 of the LORD3068 in the presence of all the congregation6951 of Israel3478, and spread forth6566 his hands3709:
13For Solomon8010 had made6213 a brasen5178 scaffold3595, of five2568 cubits520 long753, and five2568 cubits520 broad7341, and three7969 cubits520 high6967, and had set5414 it in the midst8432 of the court5835: and upon it he stood5975, and kneeled down1288 upon his knees1290 before all the congregation6951 of Israel3478, and spread forth6566 his hands3709 toward heaven8064,
14And said559, O LORD3068 God430 of Israel3478, there is no God430 like thee in the heaven8064, nor in the earth776; which keepest8104 covenant1285, and shewest mercy2617 unto thy servants5650, that walk1980 before6440 thee with all their hearts3820:
15Thou which hast kept8104 with thy servant5650 David1732 my father1 that which thou hast promised1696 him; and spakest1696 with thy mouth6310, and hast fulfilled4390 it with thine hand3027, as it is this day3117.
16Now therefore, O LORD3068 God430 of Israel3478, keep8104 with thy servant5650 David1732 my father1 that which thou hast promised1696 him, saying559, There shall not fail3772 thee a man376 in my sight6440 to sit3427 upon the throne3678 of Israel3478; yet so7535 that thy children1121 take heed8104 to their way1870 to walk3212 in my law8451, as thou hast walked1980 before6440 me.
17Now then, O LORD3068 God430 of Israel3478, let thy word1697 be verified539, which thou hast spoken1696 unto thy servant5650 David1732.
18But will God430 in very deed552 dwell3427 with men120 on the earth776? behold, heaven8064 and the heaven8064 of heavens8064 cannot contain3557 thee; how much less this house1004 which I have built1129!
19Have respect6437 therefore to the prayer8605 of thy servant5650, and to his supplication8467, O LORD3068 my God430, to hearken8085 unto the cry7440 and the prayer8605 which thy servant5650 prayeth6419 before6440 thee:
20That thine eyes5869 may be open6605 upon this house1004 day3119 and night3915, upon the place4725 whereof thou hast said559 that thou wouldest put7760 thy name8034 there; to hearken8085 unto the prayer8605 which thy servant5650 prayeth6419 toward this place4725.
21Hearken8085 therefore unto the supplications8469 of thy servant5650, and of thy people5971 Israel3478, which they shall make6419 toward this place4725: hear8085 thou from thy dwelling3427 place4725, even from heaven8064; and when thou hearest8085, forgive5545.
22If a man376 sin2398 against his neighbour7453, and an oath423 be laid5375 upon him to make him swear422, and the oath423 come935 before6440 thine altar4196 in this house1004;
23Then hear8085 thou from heaven8064, and do6213, and judge8199 thy servants5650, by requiting7725 the wicked7563, by recompensing5414 his way1870 upon his own head7218; and by justifying6663 the righteous6662, by giving5414 him according to his righteousness6666.
24And if thy people5971 Israel3478 be put to the worse5062 before6440 the enemy341, because they have sinned2398 against thee; and shall return7725 and confess3034 thy name8034, and pray6419 and make supplication2603 before6440 thee in this house1004;
25Then hear8085 thou from the heavens8064, and forgive5545 the sin2403 of thy people5971 Israel3478, and bring them again7725 unto the land127 which thou gavest5414 to them and to their fathers1.
26When the heaven8064 is shut up6113, and there is no rain4306, because they have sinned2398 against thee; yet if they pray6419 toward this place4725, and confess3034 thy name8034, and turn7725 from their sin2403, when thou dost afflict6031 them;
27Then hear8085 thou from heaven8064, and forgive5545 the sin2403 of thy servants5650, and of thy people5971 Israel3478, when thou hast taught3384 them the good2896 way1870, wherein they should walk3212; and send5414 rain4306 upon thy land776, which thou hast given5414 unto thy people5971 for an inheritance5159.
28If there be dearth7458 in the land776, if there be pestilence1698, if there be blasting7711, or mildew3420, locusts697, or caterpillers2625; if their enemies341 besiege6887 them in the cities8179 of their land776; whatsoever sore5061 or whatsoever sickness4245 there be:
29Then what prayer8605 or what supplication8467 soever shall be made of any man120, or of all thy people5971 Israel3478, when every one376 shall know3045 his own sore5061 and his own grief4341, and shall spread forth6566 his hands3709 in this house1004:
30Then hear8085 thou from heaven8064 thy dwelling3427 place4349, and forgive5545, and render5414 unto every man376 according unto all his ways1870, whose heart3824 thou knowest3045; (for thou only knowest3045 the hearts3824 of the children1121 of men120:)
31That they may fear3372 thee, to walk3212 in thy ways1870, so long as3117 they live2416 6440 in the land127 which thou gavest5414 unto our fathers1.
32Moreover concerning the stranger5237, which is not of thy people5971 Israel3478, but is come935 from a far7350 country776 for thy great1419 name's8034 sake, and thy mighty2389 hand3027, and thy stretched out5186 arm2220; if they come935 and pray6419 in this house1004;
33Then hear8085 thou from the heavens8064, even from thy dwelling3427 place4349, and do6213 according to all that the stranger5237 calleth7121 to thee for; that all people5971 of the earth776 may know3045 thy name8034, and fear3372 thee, as doth thy people5971 Israel3478, and may know3045 that this house1004 which I have built1129 is called7121 by thy name8034.
34If thy people5971 go out3318 to war4421 against their enemies341 by the way1870 that thou shalt send7971 them, and they pray6419 unto thee toward1870 this city5892 which thou hast chosen977, and the house1004 which I have built1129 for thy name8034;
35Then hear8085 thou from the heavens8064 their prayer8605 and their supplication8467, and maintain6213 their cause4941.
36If they sin2398 against thee, (for there is no man120 which sinneth2398 not,) and thou be angry599 with them, and deliver5414 them over before6440 their enemies341, and they carry them away7617 captives7617 unto a land776 far off7350 or near7138;
37Yet if they bethink7725 3824 themselves in the land776 whither they are carried captive7617, and turn7725 and pray2603 unto thee in the land776 of their captivity7628, saying559, We have sinned2398, we have done amiss5753, and have dealt wickedly7561;
38If they return7725 to thee with all their heart3820 and with all their soul5315 in the land776 of their captivity7628, whither they have carried them captives7617, and pray6419 toward1870 their land776, which thou gavest5414 unto their fathers1, and toward the city5892 which thou hast chosen977, and toward the house1004 which I have built1129 for thy name8034:
39Then hear8085 thou from the heavens8064, even from thy dwelling3427 place4349, their prayer8605 and their supplications8467, and maintain6213 their cause4941, and forgive5545 thy people5971 which have sinned2398 against thee.
40Now, my God430, let, I beseech thee, thine eyes5869 be open6605, and let thine ears241 be attent7183 unto the prayer8605 that is made in this place4725.
41Now therefore arise6965, O LORD3068 God430, into thy resting5118 place, thou, and the ark727 of thy strength5797: let thy priests3548, O LORD3068 God430, be clothed3847 with salvation8668, and let thy saints2623 rejoice8055 in goodness2896.
42O LORD3068 God430, turn not away7725 the face6440 of thine anointed4899: remember2142 the mercies2617 of David1732 thy servant5650.
