2 Kings 7:1-20 KJV11 - Bible AI

1Then Elisha477 said559, Hear8085 ye the word1697 of the LORD3068; Thus saith559 the LORD3068, To morrow4279 about this time6256 shall a measure5429 of fine flour5560 be sold for a shekel8255, and two measures5429 of barley8184 for a shekel8255, in the gate8179 of Samaria8111.

2Then a lord7991 on whose hand3027 the king4428 leaned8172 answered6030 the man376 of God430, and said559, Behold, if the LORD3068 would make6213 windows699 in heaven8064, might this thing1697 be? And he said559, Behold, thou shalt see7200 it with thine eyes5869, but shalt not eat398 thereof. a lord: Heb. a lord which belonged to the king leaning upon his hand

3And there were four702 leprous6879 men582 at the entering in6607 of the gate8179: and they said559 one376 to another7453, Why sit3427 we here until we die4191?

4If we say559, We will enter935 into the city5892, then the famine7458 is in the city5892, and we shall die4191 there: and if we sit still3427 here, we die4191 also. Now therefore come3212, and let us fall5307 unto the host4264 of the Syrians758: if they save us alive2421, we shall live2421; and if they kill4191 us, we shall but die4191.

5And they rose up6965 in the twilight5399, to go935 unto the camp4264 of the Syrians758: and when they were come935 to the uttermost part7097 of the camp4264 of Syria758, behold, there was no man376 there.

6For the Lord136 had made the host4264 of the Syrians758 to hear8085 a noise6963 of chariots7393, and a noise6963 of horses5483, even the noise6963 of a great1419 host2428: and they said559 one376 to another251, Lo, the king4428 of Israel3478 hath hired7936 against us the kings4428 of the Hittites2850, and the kings4428 of the Egyptians4714, to come935 upon us.

7Wherefore they arose6965 and fled5127 in the twilight5399, and left5800 their tents168, and their horses5483, and their asses2543, even the camp4264 as it was, and fled5127 for their life5315.

8And when these lepers6879 came935 to the uttermost part7097 of the camp4264, they went935 into one259 tent168, and did eat398 and drink8354, and carried5375 thence silver3701, and gold2091, and raiment899, and went3212 and hid2934 it; and came again7725, and entered935 into another312 tent168, and carried5375 thence also, and went3212 and hid2934 it.

9Then they said559 one376 to another7453, We do6213 not well: this day3117 is a day3117 of good tidings1309, and we hold our peace2814: if we tarry2442 till the morning1242 light216, some mischief5771 will come4672 upon us: now therefore come3212, that we may go935 and tell5046 the king's4428 household1004. some: Heb. we shall find punishment

10So they came935 and called7121 unto the porter7778 of the city5892: and they told5046 them, saying559, We came935 to the camp4264 of the Syrians758, and, behold, there was no man376 there, neither voice6963 of man120, but horses5483 tied631, and asses2543 tied631, and the tents168 as they were.

11And he called7121 the porters7778; and they told5046 it to the king's4428 house1004 within6441.

12And the king4428 arose6965 in the night3915, and said559 unto his servants5650, I will now shew5046 you what the Syrians758 have done6213 to us. They know3045 that we be hungry7457; therefore are they gone out3318 of the camp4264 to hide2247 themselves in the field7704, saying559, When they come out3318 of the city5892, we shall catch8610 them alive2416, and get935 into the city5892.

13And one259 of his servants5650 answered6030 and said559, Let some take3947, I pray thee, five2568 of the horses5483 that remain7604, which are left7604 in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude1995 of Israel3478 that are left7604 in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude1995 of the Israelites3478 that are consumed8552:) and let us send7971 and see7200. in the city: Heb. in it

14They took3947 therefore two8147 chariot7393 horses5483; and the king4428 sent7971 after310 the host4264 of the Syrians758, saying559, Go3212 and see7200.

15And they went3212 after310 them unto Jordan3383: and, lo, all the way1870 was full4392 of garments899 and vessels3627, which the Syrians758 had cast away7993 in their haste2648. And the messengers4397 returned7725, and told5046 the king4428.

16And the people5971 went out3318, and spoiled962 the tents4264 of the Syrians758. So a measure5429 of fine flour5560 was sold for a shekel8255, and two measures5429 of barley8184 for a shekel8255, according to the word1697 of the LORD3068.

17And the king4428 appointed6485 the lord7991 on whose hand3027 he leaned8172 to have the charge of the gate8179: and the people5971 trode7429 upon him in the gate8179, and he died4191, as the man376 of God430 had said1696, who spake1696 when the king4428 came down3381 to him.

18And it came to pass as the man376 of God430 had spoken1696 to the king4428, saying559, Two measures5429 of barley8184 for a shekel8255, and a measure5429 of fine flour5560 for a shekel8255, shall be to morrow4279 about this time6256 in the gate8179 of Samaria8111:

19And that lord7991 answered6030 the man376 of God430, and said559, Now, behold, if the LORD3068 should make6213 windows699 in heaven8064, might such a thing1697 be? And he said559, Behold, thou shalt see7200 it with thine eyes5869, but shalt not eat398 thereof.

20And so it fell out unto him: for the people5971 trode7429 upon him in the gate8179, and he died4191.
