19When thou shalt besiege6696 a city5892 a long7227 time3117, in making war3898 against it to take8610 it, thou shalt not destroy7843 the trees6086 thereof by forcing5080 an axe1631 against them: for thou mayest eat398 of them, and thou shalt not cut them down3772 (for the tree6086 of the field7704 is man's120 life ) to employ935 them in the siege6440 4692:
20Only the trees6086 which thou knowest3045 that they be not trees6086 for meat3978, thou shalt destroy7843 and cut them down3772; and thou shalt build1129 bulwarks4692 against the city5892 that maketh6213 war4421 with thee, until it be subdued3381.
