The word1697 which came unto Jeremiah3414 from the LORD3068, when king4428 Zedekiah6667 sent7971 unto him Pashur6583 the son1121 of Melchiah4441, and Zephaniah6846 the son1121 of Maaseiah4641 the priest3548, saying559,

Enquire1875, I pray thee, of the LORD3068 for us1157; for Nebuchadrezzar5019 king4428 of Babylon894 maketh war3898 against us; if so be that the LORD3068 will deal6213 with us according to all his wondrous works6381, that he may go up5927 from us.

Then said559 Jeremiah3414 unto them, Thus shall ye say559 to Zedekiah6667:

Thus saith559 the LORD3068 God430 of Israel3478; Behold, I will turn back5437 the weapons3627 of war4421 that are in your hands3027, wherewith ye fight3898 against the king4428 of Babylon894, and against the Chaldeans3778, which besiege6696 you without2351 the walls2346, and I will assemble622 them into the midst8432 of this city5892.

And I myself will fight3898 against you with an outstretched5186 hand3027 and with a strong2389 arm2220, even in anger639, and in fury2534, and in great1419 wrath7110.

And I will smite5221 the inhabitants3427 of this city5892, both man120 and beast929: they shall die4191 of a great1419 pestilence1698.

And afterward310, saith5002 the LORD3068, I will deliver5414 Zedekiah6667 king4428 of Judah3063, and his servants5650, and the people5971, and such as are left7604 in this city5892 from the pestilence1698, from the sword2719, and from the famine7458, into the hand3027 of Nebuchadrezzar5019 king4428 of Babylon894, and into the hand3027 of their enemies341, and into the hand3027 of those that seek1245 their life5315: and he shall smite5221 them with the edge6310 of the sword2719; he shall not spare2347 them, neither have pity2550, nor have mercy7355.

And unto this people5971 thou shalt say559, Thus saith559 the LORD3068; Behold, I set5414 before6440 you the way1870 of life2416, and the way1870 of death4194.

He that abideth3427 in this city5892 shall die4191 by the sword2719, and by the famine7458, and by the pestilence1698: but he that goeth out3318, and falleth5307 to the Chaldeans3778 that besiege6696 you, he shall live2421 2421, and his life5315 shall be unto him for a prey7998.

For I have set7760 my face6440 against this city5892 for evil7451, and not for good2896, saith5002 the LORD3068: it shall be given5414 into the hand3027 of the king4428 of Babylon894, and he shall burn8313 it with fire784.

And touching the house1004 of the king4428 of Judah3063, say, Hear8085 ye the word1697 of the LORD3068;

O house1004 of David1732, thus saith559 the LORD3068; Execute1777 judgment4941 in the morning1242, and deliver5337 him that is spoiled1497 out of the hand3027 of the oppressor6231, lest my fury2534 go out3318 like fire784, and burn1197 that none can quench3518 it, because6440 of the evil7455 of your doings4611. Execute: Heb. Judge

Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant3427 of the valley6010, and rock6697 of the plain4334, saith5002 the LORD3068; which say559, Who shall come down5181 against us? or who shall enter935 into our habitations4585? inhabitant: Heb. inhabitress

But I will punish6485 you according to the fruit6529 of your doings4611, saith5002 the LORD3068: and I will kindle3341 a fire784 in the forest3293 thereof, and it shall devour398 all things round about5439 it. punish: Heb. visit upon
