Thus saith559 the LORD3068; Go down3381 to the house1004 of the king4428 of Judah3063, and speak1696 there this word1697,
And say559, Hear8085 the word1697 of the LORD3068, O king4428 of Judah3063, that sittest3427 upon the throne3678 of David1732, thou, and thy servants5650, and thy people5971 that enter935 in by these gates8179:
Thus saith559 the LORD3068; Execute6213 ye judgment4941 and righteousness6666, and deliver5337 the spoiled1497 out of the hand3027 of the oppressor6216: and do no wrong3238, do no violence2554 to the stranger1616, the fatherless3490, nor the widow490, neither shed8210 innocent5355 blood1818 in this place4725.
For if ye do6213 this thing1697 indeed6213, then shall there enter in935 by the gates8179 of this house1004 kings4428 sitting3427 upon the throne3678 of David1732, riding7392 in chariots7393 and on horses5483, he, and his servants5650, and his people5971.
But if ye will not hear8085 these words1697, I swear7650 by myself, saith5002 the LORD3068, that this house1004 shall become a desolation2723.
For thus saith559 the LORD3068 unto the king's4428 house1004 of Judah3063; Thou art Gilead1568 unto me, and the head7218 of Lebanon3844: yet surely I will make7896 thee a wilderness4057, and cities5892 which are not inhabited3427 3427.
And I will prepare6942 destroyers7843 against thee, every one376 with his weapons3627: and they shall cut down3772 thy choice4005 cedars730, and cast5307 them into the fire784.
And many7227 nations1471 shall pass5674 by this city5892, and they shall say559 every man376 to his neighbour7453, Wherefore hath the LORD3068 done6213 thus unto this great1419 city5892?
Then they shall answer559, Because they have forsaken5800 the covenant1285 of the LORD3068 their God430, and worshipped7812 other312 gods430, and served5647 them.
Weep1058 ye not for the dead4191, neither bemoan5110 him: but weep1058 sore1058 for him that goeth away1980: for he shall return7725 no more, nor see7200 his native4138 country776.
For thus saith559 the LORD3068 touching413 Shallum7967 the son1121 of Josiah2977 king4428 of Judah3063, which reigned4427 instead of Josiah2977 his father1, which went forth3318 out of this place4725; He shall not return7725 thither any more:
But he shall die4191 in the place4725 whither they have led him captive1540, and shall see7200 this land776 no more.
Woe1945 unto him that buildeth1129 his house1004 by3808 unrighteousness6664, and his chambers5944 by wrong4941; that useth his neighbour's7453 service5647 without wages2600, and giveth5414 him not for his work6467;
That saith559, I will build1129 me a wide4060 house1004 and large7304 chambers5944, and cutteth him out7167 windows2474; and it is cieled5603 with cedar730, and painted4886 with vermilion8350.
Shalt thou reign4427, because thou closest8474 thyself in cedar730? did not thy father1 eat398 and drink8354, and do6213 judgment4941 and justice6666, and then it was well2896 with him?
He judged1777 the cause1779 of the poor6041 and needy34; then it was well2896 with him: was not this to know1847 me? saith5002 the LORD3068.
But thine eyes5869 and thine heart3820 are not but for thy covetousness1215, and for to shed8210 innocent5355 blood1818, and for oppression6233, and for violence4835, to do6213 it.
Therefore thus saith559 the LORD3068 concerning Jehoiakim3079 the son1121 of Josiah2977 king4428 of Judah3063; They shall not lament5594 for him, saying, Ah1945 my brother251! or, Ah1945 sister269! they shall not lament5594 for him, saying, Ah1945 lord113! or, Ah1945 his glory1935!
He shall be buried6912 with the burial6900 of an ass2543, drawn5498 and cast forth7993 beyond1973 the gates8179 of Jerusalem3389.
Go up5927 to Lebanon3844, and cry6817; and lift up5414 thy voice6963 in Bashan1316, and cry6817 from the passages5676: for all thy lovers157 are destroyed7665.
I spake1696 unto thee in thy prosperity7962; but thou saidst559, I will not hear8085. This hath been thy manner1870 from thy youth5271, that thou obeyedst8085 not my voice6963.
The wind7307 shall eat up7462 all thy pastors7462, and thy lovers157 shall go3212 into captivity7628: surely then shalt thou be ashamed954 and confounded3637 for all thy wickedness7451.
O inhabitant3427 of Lebanon3844, that makest thy nest7077 in the cedars730, how gracious2603 shalt thou be when pangs2256 come935 upon thee, the pain2427 as of a woman in travail3205!
As I live2416, saith5002 the LORD3068, though Coniah3659 the son1121 of Jehoiakim3079 king4428 of Judah3063 were the signet2368 upon my right3225 hand3027, yet would I pluck5423 thee thence;
And I will give5414 thee into the hand3027 of them that seek1245 thy life5315, and into the hand3027 of them whose face6440 thou fearest3016, even into the hand3027 of Nebuchadrezzar5019 king4428 of Babylon894, and into the hand3027 of the Chaldeans3778.
And I will cast thee out2904, and thy mother517 that bare3205 thee, into another312 country776, where ye were not born3205; and there shall ye die4191.
But to the land776 whereunto they desire5375 5315 to return7725, thither shall they not return7725.
Is this man376 Coniah3659 a despised959 broken5310 idol6089? is he a vessel3627 wherein is no pleasure2656? wherefore are they cast out7993, he and his seed2233, and are cast2904 into a land776 which they know3045 not?
O earth776, earth776, earth776, hear8085 the word1697 of the LORD3068.
Thus saith559 the LORD3068, Write3789 ye this man376 childless6185, a man1397 that shall not prosper6743 in his days3117: for no man376 of his seed2233 shall prosper6743, sitting3427 upon the throne3678 of David1732, and ruling4910 any more in Judah3063.
