3For out of the north6828 there cometh up5927 a nation1471 against her, which shall make7896 her land776 desolate8047, and none shall dwell3427 therein: they shall remove5110, they shall depart1980, both man120 and beast929.
4In those days3117, and in that time6256, saith5002 the LORD3068, the children1121 of Israel3478 shall come935, they and the children1121 of Judah3063 together3162, going1980 and weeping1058: they shall go3212, and seek1245 the LORD3068 their God430.
5They shall ask7592 the way1870 to Zion6726 with their faces6440 thitherward2008, saying, Come935, and let us join3867 ourselves to the LORD3068 in a perpetual5769 covenant1285 that shall not be forgotten7911.

9For, lo, I will raise5782 and cause to come up5927 against Babylon894 an assembly6951 of great1419 nations1471 from the north6828 country776: and they shall set themselves in array6186 against her; from thence she shall be taken3920: their arrows2671 shall be as of a mighty1368 expert man7919 7921; none shall return7725 in vain7387.
10And Chaldea3778 shall be a spoil7998: all that spoil7997 her shall be satisfied7646, saith5002 the LORD3068.
11Because ye were glad8055, because ye rejoiced5937, O ye destroyers8154 of mine heritage5159, because ye are grown fat6335 as the heifer5697 at grass1877 1758, and bellow6670 as bulls47;
12Your mother517 shall be sore3966 confounded954; she that bare3205 you shall be ashamed2659: behold, the hindermost319 of the nations1471 shall be a wilderness4057, a dry land6723, and a desert6160.
13Because of the wrath7110 of the LORD3068 it shall not be inhabited3427, but it shall be wholly desolate8077: every one that goeth5674 by Babylon894 shall be astonished8074, and hiss8319 at all her plagues4347.

15Shout7321 against her round about5439: she hath given5414 her hand3027: her foundations803 are fallen5307, her walls2346 are thrown down2040: for it is the vengeance5360 of the LORD3068: take vengeance5358 upon her; as she hath done6213, do6213 unto her.

23How is the hammer6360 of the whole earth776 cut asunder1438 and broken7665! how is Babylon894 become a desolation8047 among the nations1471!
24I have laid a snare3369 for thee, and thou art also taken3920, O Babylon894, and thou wast not aware3045: thou art found4672, and also caught8610, because thou hast striven1624 against the LORD3068.
25The LORD3068 hath opened6605 his armoury214, and hath brought forth3318 the weapons3627 of his indignation2195: for this is the work4399 of the Lord136 GOD3069 of hosts6635 in the land776 of the Chaldeans3778.

44Behold, he shall come up5927 like a lion738 from the swelling1347 of Jordan3383 unto the habitation5116 of the strong386: but I will make7323 them suddenly7280 run away7323 7323 from her: and who is a chosen977 man, that I may appoint6485 over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time3259? and who is that shepherd7462 that will stand5975 before6440 me?
45Therefore hear8085 ye the counsel6098 of the LORD3068, that he hath taken3289 against Babylon894; and his purposes4284, that he hath purposed2803 against the land776 of the Chaldeans3778: Surely the least6810 of the flock6629 shall draw them out5498: surely he shall make their habitation5116 desolate8074 with them.
