Oh that5414 my head7218 were waters4325, and mine eyes5869 a fountain4726 of tears1832, that I might weep1058 day3119 and night3915 for the slain2491 of the daughter1323 of my people5971! Oh: Heb. Who will give my head, etc

Oh that5414 I had in the wilderness4057 a lodging place4411 of wayfaring men732; that I might leave5800 my people5971, and go3212 from them! for they be all adulterers5003, an assembly6116 of treacherous men898.

And they bend1869 their tongues3956 like their bow7198 for lies8267: but they are not valiant1396 for the truth530 upon the earth776; for they proceed3318 from evil7451 to evil7451, and they know3045 not me, saith5002 the LORD3068.

Take ye heed8104 every one376 of his neighbour7453, and trust982 ye not in any brother251: for every brother251 will utterly6117 supplant6117, and every neighbour7453 will walk1980 with slanders7400. neighbour: or, friend

And they will deceive2048 every one376 his neighbour7453, and will not speak1696 the truth571: they have taught3925 their tongue3956 to speak1696 lies8267, and weary3811 themselves to commit iniquity5753. deceive: or, mock

Thine habitation3427 is in the midst8432 of deceit4820; through deceit4820 they refuse3985 to know3045 me, saith5002 the LORD3068.

Therefore thus saith559 the LORD3068 of hosts6635, Behold, I will melt6884 them, and try974 them; for how shall I do6213 for6440 the daughter1323 of my people5971?

Their tongue3956 is as an arrow2671 shot out7819; it speaketh1696 deceit4820: one speaketh1696 peaceably7965 to his neighbour7453 with his mouth6310, but in heart7130 he layeth7760 his wait696. in heart: Heb. in the midst of him his wait: or, wait for him

Shall I not visit6485 them for these things? saith5002 the LORD3068: shall not my soul5315 be avenged5358 on such a nation1471 as this?

For the mountains2022 will I take up5375 a weeping1065 and wailing5092, and for the habitations4999 of the wilderness4057 a lamentation7015, because they are burned up3341, so that none376 can pass5674 through them; neither can men hear8085 the voice6963 of the cattle4735; both the fowl5775 of the heavens8064 and the beast929 are fled5074; they are gone1980. habitations: or, pastures burned up: or, desolate both: Heb. from the fowl even to, etc

And I will make5414 Jerusalem3389 heaps1530, and a den4583 of dragons8577; and I will make5414 the cities5892 of Judah3063 desolate8077, without an inhabitant3427. desolate: Heb. desolation

Who is the wise2450 man376, that may understand995 this? and who is he to whom the mouth6310 of the LORD3068 hath spoken1696, that he may declare5046 it, for what the land776 perisheth6 and is burned up3341 like a wilderness4057, that none passeth through5674?

And the LORD3068 saith559, Because they have forsaken5800 my law8451 which I set5414 before6440 them, and have not obeyed8085 my voice6963, neither walked1980 therein;

But have walked3212 after310 the imagination8307 of their own heart3820, and after310 Baalim1168, which their fathers1 taught3925 them: imagination: or, stubbornness

Therefore thus saith559 the LORD3068 of hosts6635, the God430 of Israel3478; Behold, I will feed398 them, even this people5971, with wormwood3939, and give them water4325 of gall7219 to drink8248.

I will scatter6327 them also among the heathen1471, whom neither they nor their fathers1 have known3045: and I will send7971 a sword2719 after310 them, till I have consumed3615 them.

Thus saith559 the LORD3068 of hosts6635, Consider995 ye, and call7121 for the mourning women6969, that they may come935; and send7971 for cunning2450 women, that they may come935:

And let them make haste4116, and take up5375 a wailing5092 for us, that our eyes5869 may run down3381 with tears1832, and our eyelids6079 gush out5140 with waters4325.

For a voice6963 of wailing5092 is heard8085 out of Zion6726, How are we spoiled7703! we are greatly3966 confounded954, because we have forsaken5800 the land776, because our dwellings4908 have cast us out7993.

Yet hear8085 the word1697 of the LORD3068, O ye women802, and let your ear241 receive3947 the word1697 of his mouth6310, and teach3925 your daughters1323 wailing5092, and every one802 her neighbour7468 lamentation7015.

For death4194 is come up5927 into our windows2474, and is entered935 into our palaces759, to cut off3772 the children5768 from without2351, and the young men970 from the streets7339.

Speak1696, Thus saith5002 the LORD3068, Even the carcases5038 of men120 shall fall5307 as dung1828 upon the open6440 field7704, and as the handful5995 after310 the harvestman7114, and none shall gather622 them.

Thus saith559 the LORD3068, Let not the wise2450 man glory1984 in his wisdom2451, neither let the mighty1368 man glory1984 in his might1369, let not the rich6223 man glory1984 in his riches6239:

But let him that glorieth1984 glory1984 in this, that he understandeth7919 and knoweth3045 me, that I am the LORD3068 which exercise6213 lovingkindness2617, judgment4941, and righteousness6666, in the earth776: for in these things I delight2654, saith5002 the LORD3068.

Behold, the days3117 come935, saith5002 the LORD3068, that I will punish6485 all them which are circumcised4135 with the uncircumcised6190; punish: Heb. visit upon

Egypt4714, and Judah3063, and Edom123, and the children1121 of Ammon5983, and Moab4124, and all that are in the utmost7112 corners6285, that dwell3427 in the wilderness4057: for all these nations1471 are uncircumcised6189, and all the house1004 of Israel3478 are uncircumcised6189 in the heart3820. in the utmost: Heb. cut off into corners, or, having the corners of their hair polled
