And now, O ye priests3548, this commandment4687 is for you.

If ye will not hear8085, and if ye will not lay7760 it to heart3820, to give5414 glory3519 unto my name8034, saith559 the LORD3068 of hosts6635, I will even send7971 a curse3994 upon you, and I will curse779 your blessings1293: yea, I have cursed779 them already, because ye do not lay7760 it to heart3820.

Behold, I will corrupt1605 your seed2233, and spread2219 dung6569 upon your faces6440, even the dung6569 of your solemn feasts2282; and one shall take you away5375 with it. corrupt: or, reprove spread: Heb. scatter one: or, it shall take you away to it

And ye shall know3045 that I have sent7971 this commandment4687 unto you, that my covenant1285 might be with Levi3878, saith559 the LORD3068 of hosts6635.

My covenant1285 was with him of life2416 and peace7965; and I gave5414 them to him for the fear4172 wherewith he feared3372 me, and was afraid2865 before6440 my name8034.

The law8451 of truth571 was in his mouth6310, and iniquity5766 was not found4672 in his lips8193: he walked1980 with me in peace7965 and equity4334, and did turn7725 many7227 away7725 from iniquity5771.

For the priest's3548 lips8193 should keep8104 knowledge1847, and they should seek1245 the law8451 at his mouth6310: for he is the messenger4397 of the LORD3068 of hosts6635.

But ye are departed5493 out of the way1870; ye have caused many7227 to stumble3782 at the law8451; ye have corrupted7843 the covenant1285 of Levi3878, saith559 the LORD3068 of hosts6635. stumble at: or, fall in

Therefore have I also made5414 you contemptible959 and base8217 before all the people5971, according6310 as ye have not kept8104 my ways1870, but have been partial5375 6440 in the law8451. have been: or, lifted up the face against: Heb. accepted faces

Have we not all one259 father1? hath not one259 God410 created1254 us? why do we deal treacherously898 every man376 against his brother251, by profaning2490 the covenant1285 of our fathers1?

Judah3063 hath dealt treacherously898, and an abomination8441 is committed6213 in Israel3478 and in Jerusalem3389; for Judah3063 hath profaned2490 the holiness6944 of the LORD3068 which he loved157, and hath married1166 the daughter1323 of a strange5236 god410. loved: or, ought to love

The LORD3068 will cut off3772 the man376 that doeth6213 this, the master5782 and the scholar6030, out of the tabernacles168 of Jacob3290, and him that offereth5066 an offering4503 unto the LORD3068 of hosts6635. the master: or, him that waketh, and him that answereth

And this have ye done6213 again8145, covering3680 the altar4196 of the LORD3068 with tears1832, with weeping1065, and with crying out603, insomuch that he regardeth6437 not the offering4503 any more, or receiveth3947 it with good will7522 at your hand3027.

Yet ye say559, Wherefore4100? Because the LORD3068 hath been witness5749 between thee and the wife802 of thy youth5271, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously898: yet is she thy companion2278, and the wife802 of thy covenant1285.

And did not he make6213 one259? Yet had he the residue7605 of the spirit7307. And wherefore one259? That he might seek1245 a godly430 seed2233. Therefore take heed8104 to your spirit7307, and let none deal treacherously898 against the wife802 of his youth5271. residue: or, excellency godly: Heb. seed of God treacherously: or, unfaithfully

For the LORD3068, the God430 of Israel3478, saith559 that he hateth8130 putting away7971: for one covereth3680 violence2555 with his garment3830, saith559 the LORD3068 of hosts6635: therefore take heed8104 to your spirit7307, that ye deal not treacherously898. that he: or, if he hate her, put her away putting: Heb. to put away

Ye have wearied3021 the LORD3068 with your words1697. Yet ye say559, Wherein have we wearied3021 him? When ye say559, Every one that doeth6213 evil7451 is good2896 in the sight5869 of the LORD3068, and he delighteth2654 in them; or, Where is the God430 of judgment4941?
